Redecorating Sneak Peek- The Kitchen!

After mulling over colors for a bit, my roommate and I decided to paint the kitchen a light lilac. Since the color is very soft I wanted to continue to add soft decorations to the space to make it feel cozy and inviting. Take a peek below!

Here's the newly painted and decorated kitchen!
I love this key holder dish from Anthropologie. Would you believe I spent 2 hours going store to store one day to find the perfect one? Well good because I didn't...did...didn't...okay okay I did! #InteriorDesignerInTheMaking? #Perfectionist #NoShame

Knife set, utensils set, and Gwyneth Paltrow = yes all the must have essentials for a well maintained kitchen. :)

The last night I was in Rome I had dinner at this great place called Propoganda with my friend Giorgio and now the menu I saved is in our kitchen, love!

This mini island took 2 hours to construct by my neighbor, not me, my lovely neighbor. Ya I gave up after 10 minutes, opened up a bottle of wine, and watched "What To Expect While You're Expecting." Blarg the times I wish my dad lived close by.

I love wicker! I have it throughout my bedroom and I thought the baskets would be great to organize our goodies on top of the fridge as well as stay in sync with the soft and cozy theme.
I hope you love it as much as we do! Next week, I'll show you our updated bathroom. Have a great and relaxing weekend everyone!

Redecorating Sneak Peek- My bedroom!

So for the last few months my roommate and I have been working really hard into making this house a home. We've finished all of the painting around the apartment and now are upgrading pieces and decorating the place which is coming along nicely.

Today I read this interesting quote by decorator extraordinaire Nate Berkus which talked about the deeper connection of how one decides to decorate their home, he states "what we live with and touch each and every day [...] represent what we've seen, who we've loved, and where we hope to go next." I couldn't agree more, I look around our newly fab apartment and I see our deep connection to the places we've traveled to, our connection to art, the people we love, etc. and I think it is so important to surround yourself with warm things like that everyday. So here it is everyone! A sneak peek at our apartment. Every week I'll show one room at a time and this week will be my bedroom (oh la la)  and will all lead up to our fabulous dinner party for the entire reveal so stay tuned!

I've tried to make my room have a romantic- feminine -French country theme. Phew that's a lot of themes!

Happy Work Space = Happy Life

So I've been doing a lot of redecorating around the apartment with my roommate but I noticed that one space that definitely needed a make-over was my work space. Last year when I first decorated my room, I designated an area in my room with a nice desk, utensils at hand, cork boards full of pictures I loved and my book case. However as time went on, I was stacking mail everywhere and not feeling inspired at all to get work done there. Needless to say my space felt less feng shui and more messy Marvin than I'd like it to be.

So, I decided to look at what essentials I needed on my desk and respective area to keep me feeling: organized, inspired, and cozy.

Those essentials included -
  • A labeled area for bills / outgoing mail
  • Many pictures of dear family, friends, and of my travels
  • Inspirational quotes and people I admire
  • My beloved books
  • Lastly, cute sticky notes for my endless list making

Lovely monogrammed and teacher themed mug from Anthropologie for my pens

I absolutely love my updated cork boards! Friends and family try to find yourself!

I love owls! Hoot!

Everyone likes their work space organized differently to help them stay focused. However, I think it's important for any person who is establishing their career or trying to stay motivated in their job to surround themselves with things that when the clock hits 8p.m. and you're still working on that project, you can take a second, look around your space, and automatically feel inspired to push through long days.

What are some things that you keep around your work space to feel organized, inspired, and cozy?
